BALI DAY 3 - PURA LUHUR ULUWATU

The next place we visited was another temple called Pura Luhur Uluwatu. Maybe Uluwatu is the name of the place. There were a few reasons why people came here. First, to watch the beauty of the ocean and the surrounding hills from the cliff. Second, to observe the sunset. Third, to watch the famous Balinese famous Kechak Dance. It was like a complete 3-in-1 package for visitors.

We were there as early as 4:30 p.m. and people had started arriving already. We first went to one end of the cliff but there was danger lurking everywhere. Visitors were told to be EXTRA careful as the monkeys here were very aggressive. Pak Dwi our guide told us not to clench our fists as the monkeys might think that there was food in our palms. I had to be extra careful as these animals would steal things like spectacles and plastic bags. We saw how quick a monkey was when it snatched a tourist's spectacles (he was from Japan) right in front of us.

The view was simply breathtaking - the sea and the sky, and the pura (temple) on top of the cliff could be seen from the distance. No wonder there were a lot of tourists flocking this area.

We could not stay here for a long time as we had to move to the place where the Kechak Dance would be performed at the other side of the hill.
