BALI DAY 4 - SWIMMING WITH THE DOLPHINS IN LOVINA

Friday, 26th April ~ In order to go to Lovina, the place where we would go dolphin hunting, we had to start our journey from Legian as early as 3:00 a.m. So I slept all the way there, woke up for a short while when Pak Dwi stopped for our Subuh prayer, and continued sleeping until we reached our destination. The whole one way trip took about 2½ hours. Only on my way back I realized how mountainous the whole route was - going up and round with sharp bends. Our hotel was situated at the south part of the island, and we had made our way up north.

When we reached there, it was still dark but a busload of tourists were already there before us. After a few minutes, the boat operator came and we were shown our boat for the trip. And there were many other boats which had similar missions.

Once we arrived at one spot, the boat would stop and we would then looked at the water, patiently waiting for any signs of dolphins. When a school of dolphins made their appearance on the surface of the water, swimming quickly but swiftly forward, all the people got very excited. As they were very fast, the fish would appear for less than one minute and the boats would then chase after them, stopped again and waited for their presence. After about two hours, when the dolphins had decided to end the show, we all sailed back to the shore.

This was another memorable activity that we did in Bali. It was not in our original itinerary list of places to visit and things to do, but we could always tell the guide of any change in the plan.

You can see the video recordings of the dolphins after this. Don't forget to come back for more.
