ANGKLUNG PERFORMANCE FOR A DINNER FUNCTION OF UTM'S FACULTY OF COMPUTING - PART TWO

[CONTINUATION OF PART ONE]

23rd MAY 2017 ~ The venue of the performance was actually not that spacious. There was no stage so we just secured a spot in front of the counter right at the entrance gate of the restaurant. There was like a passage for visitors to walk by into the restaurant between us and the audience. Basically people just walked by while we were playing songs on our angklung and that made us feel like we were live buskers on the street.

There were international guests in the crowd including people from Indonesia, Thailand, India and Japan. I always wonder what the audience reaction would be like every time when we are performing. I do not face the people when I am conducting so I can only just rate their excitement based on the applause at the end of the show. This time I was told the crowd got more curious as they left the dinner tables to watch us play.

We left the place at about 9:45 p.m., feeling happy that we could perform for the event.

Nevertheless, I had a feeling that we also had entertained all the other restaurant visitors who were there not for this function, as well as the restaurant staff.

I have to thank Prof. Dr. Abd. Samad, the Dean of the Faculty of Computing, UTM, for personally inviting us to entertain the participants and guests of the conference. Hopefully we can come again for other similar event in the future.
